Sts. Raphael, Nicholas & Irene on stone

Saints Raphael, Nicholas and Irene of Lesvos, were martyred in the 15th century by the Turks, during the Turkish occupation of Greece. They were unknown for 500 years until they appeared to the faithful of Lesvos in the 1960s. Their memory falls on April 9 but they are commemorated on Bright Tuesday.

The Saints' icon is a byzantine print from Greece, applied onto gold gilded river washed stone, embellished with an antique dark brown crackling border. High gloss crystal varnish finish.
