A few years ago, a priest recommended I read the Counsels of St Paisios, starting with this volume. After I read it, I immediately ordered the rest and eagerly read them all. I can honestly say these books changed my life. St Paisios' voice is shines through so vividly that it fills you will love for the saint. I learned so much from him, from the way he taught, the stories he told, and the lessons he shared from his own experiences. Despite being a monastic, the way St Paisios counselled people living in the world reveals just how God enlightened he was. He speaks in such a clear and understandable manner that everyone and anyone can benefit from his words, offering advice that is both deeply spiritual and entirely practical. These books are indespensible for developing the mind of the Church and learning how to respond to the ordeals and circumstances in our lives in a truly Christian manner. Having reposed in the 1990s, the saint also touches on extremely relevant and modern subjects. I can't recommend these books enough.
