Orthodox beeswax candles, made in Quebec by the sisters
Every candle in this collection is made by the sisters of the Monastery of the Virgin Mary the Consolatory in Brownsburg-Chatham, Quebec, from 100% pure Canadian beeswax supplied by a local producer. Beeswax is the most natural and purest of all candle waxes, and it burns with a soft, steady light.
Taper candles for the altar and the church
Our beeswax taper candles are the ones most often chosen for the church and the home altar. They are sold by the pound in four lengths: 23 cm (about 50 candles per pound), 29 cm (32), 36 cm (15) and 40 cm (9), so a family, a parish or a chapel can choose the size and the quantity it needs.
Pillars and decorative candles for the icon corner
Beeswax pillars in several sizes and colours, hexagon and rose pillars, pillars with a filigree cross, and decorative candles in tins are made for the prayer corner and for the home. Lit before the icons, a candle accompanies prayer for the saints, for the living and for the departed.
Made within the life of the monastery
Each candle is made by the sisters alongside their iconography, farming and cheese making. A purchase supports the sisterhood and its work.
