English Translation of Elder Ephraim’s Speech on the Monastery of the Consolatory
On the occasion of our 32-Year Challenge and in honor of Elder Ephraim’s birthday anniversary (June 24), we share this deeply moving message he offered in 1995 at a fundraising dinner in Montreal, in support of the future Monastery of the Consolatory. May his words continue to bless and inspire all who hear them.
"With us is the venerable Holy Monastery of the Most Holy Theotokos the Consolatory, she who comforts every sorrowful soul. This monastery has received the sacred torch of preserving and transmitting the monastic way of life.
The support and prayers of us all are truly indispensable. May the good and merciful God, through the intercessions of the Theotokos the Consolatory, raise up this small spiritual beehive in Montreal into a veritable university of the soul, wherein the patristic theology of our Holy Orthodox Church may be lived and taught.
Let us then lift up, in humble supplication, the flame of our hearts to the Mother of us all — our most sweet Panagia — that she may revive and glorify all the blessed coenobitic monasteries of the New World, making them as a light and a city set upon a hill, unto the glory of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."
